There is a sanskrit word which defines the moOn well: Mannas–or emotions + thoughts + mind = Ego.
ego |ˈēgō|
noun ( pl. egos)
a person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance : a boost to my ego.
• Psychoanalysis the part of the mind that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious and is responsible for reality testing and a sense of personal identity.
The moOn functions in very much the same way. It is a relationship between our “conscious” emotional experience of reality, with the inner mysterious sea within. This is what some call “processing;” taking information and feelings from the world and experiencing them fully, until they disperse and are understood; this is what the mOOn does. Its always changing, no different than the tides, or the waters composing our bodies. We are water, we are emotion.
Now, what happens when Pluto comes along and messes with the delicate balance, holdings it all together. What happens when we are not blessed with the proper schooling on what it means to be an emotional being? What if our parents were fucked up!? Jeff Green illuminates:
Pluto in the Fourth House or Cancer. emotional trauma can occur to these individuals for the following causes:
1.Intense emotional, psychological and/or sexual abuse with their family of origin. This can generate a deep, wounded child who has failed to learn how to internalize the mother and/or father in such a way that when they are not present the individual’s sense of safety and security does not exist. This displaced emotional dynamic manifests in their adult lives in such a way as to recreate the early family dynamics in their adult relationships. This effectively creates a reality in which they project intense emotional demands upon their partners. Such partners will not be consistently available to them either. Emotional trauma can thus reoccur as the emotional demands and needs of the displaced inner child go cyclically unfulfilled.
2. When the very nature of their overall reality, how they have structured their lives, is threatened or destroyed: taken away against their wills. When this happens these individuals will experience a sense of emotional death, this experience being so total because the very essence of their emotional security, and sense of identity, is removed.
When Pluto transits the Fourth House, forms stressful aspects through transit to the Moon, or to the planetary ruler of the Fourth House, or to planets within the natal Fourth House, it can generate these issues and subsequent traumas.
The greatest gift Pluto can give is Death (both metaphorical and real). A beautiful process it can be, full of agony and victory. Here, with Pluto in relationship to our sense of intentity and core emotional security, the Death can feel total. It is wise to have friends who understand this process; and if you arent so lucky, seek out a professional to attempt the exorcism of this emotional “demon.” Even seeing a Shaman could be a wise choice. Essentially, there is an emotional trauma so deep and fundamental to what it means to be happy and content with life, that it is a good idea to take care of it–sooner than later. Of course, its not the end of the world, but it is the end of “a world.” Once we have grokked our moOn, we then understand ourselves fully. We are able to see our True Reflection within the True Continuation of Life and its evolving dance. When Pluto has completed its transformation with the lunar reality, the individual is liberated from their emotional hells. They are able to see outside of themselves and deeply into others. Its a potent signature for natural healers. Their compassion is so strong, that the wisdom living in the waters of their lunar nature heals. But first, the Work.
