Aquarius qlarifications!

Uranus

Many people confuse Aquarius with both Gemini and Sag. That’s understandable as all 3 archetypes relate to the mind in some way.

Sag is discovering the underlying nature of all things.  Gemini is discovering the things of nature.

Both those archetypes have something to do with exploring reality in some way. Aquarius is not about either of those.

Aquarius is about evolving the brain… which translates to tapping into the potential of human being.

There are two facets to Aquarius that is well know: Freedom from the past (breaking free from conditioning) Accessing the future (inventively realizing new, smarter, evolved ways of being). Both those facets are intimately linked. In order to realize new potential, one has to liberate from adherence to the way things have been.

Objectivity

The only way to liberate is by developing an objective consciousness. This means the capacity to detach from any expectations of what anything is supposed to look, smell, taste, feel, sound (etc…) like.

Trauma

What keeps a soul in a state of limited awareness that prevents the clarity to see things as they are? The answer is trauma. Reality does not go out of its way to make sure no one gets shocked. All souls comes from numerous past lives in which it has witnessed and been subject to unspeakable persecution, death, oppression, rape, destructions, sudden and unexpected experiences of all kinds. Liberating from those shocks (by way of seeing it clearly without the interference of a subjective point of view) gives rise to a profound inner freedom to simply BE who one innately is. This means accessing the natural potential of a human being truly free from fear, repression or inhibition.

Friends

Friends and community are also commonly understood via the Aquarian archetype. The reason for this is because each soul gravitates and attracts to themselves other souls of like mind. Remember that the Aquarius archetype correlates to the mind- one’s natural intelligence, and the potential of that intelligence. The degree of intelligence accessed in a human being will differentiate one from the next. For example folks that are living purely within consensus values will not form community with folks who are living radically and experimenting with new ideas.

The entire chart is a map of your health

The entire chart is where we look to find out about health.

The 6th house is often regarded as “the health house”- the 6th house simply has to do with the imperative for each soul to be in a constant state of self improvement. simple example in nature: how many times does your dog lick it’s but? We gotta stay clean.

The entire chart is about health. Why? We often forget that our physical existance, down to the core- is 100% an intentional playground within which evolution takes place. Each soul creates the context of their life- including their dna, the culture family, body etc that they come into. There is nothing about our physical existance that doesn’t in some way serve as a container for the evolutionary process.

There’s a reason why most of us can’t fly. There’s a reason why people get sick. There’s a reason for cause and effect. Nothing is innately incurrable. However to look at a sickness from the point of view of “how do i get rid of this” is truly missing the point. If we ask the question “Why is this happening? Why is it like this?” we are then creating the space to understand the nature of our desires, which is what created these conditions in the first place.

Another way of looking at this. Most of us can understand that if we keep on running into the same health, relationship or anything situations, we can ask, “why do I attract this to myself?” We can ask that question for the bigger question: “why do I even have this chart?” When we ask that question we are opening ourselves to remember why we came here in the first place.

The answer isn’t “to make sure nothing ‘bad’ happens”. The soul doesn’t get sick. The human body gets sick. Everything physical rises and falls. Why would something timeless create a series of very temporary lifetimes in which various temporary conditions come and go? It’s a good question. The answer can only be found within each of us, by each of us.

One final thought. Healing of sickness is possible- in fact miraculous healing of seemingly “incurable” disease is possible. Again, nothing is impossible. However, as Jesus says in a course in miracles “miracles are everyone’s right- but purification is neccesary first.” How can we cure something if we don’t even understand why we created it in the first place? To me, astrology is a gem for helping me locate the REASON behind difficult experiences such as sickness. Before anything ‘bad’ can go away, one must understand the reason for its manifestation in the first place. And sometimes it is not meant to go away. Proper understanding is necessary…

… I am humbled by other astrologers who seem to really know how to understand such things. There astrologers have self knowledge (the best kind of knowledge) more than anything else (example Jeff Green). I cannot do it myself, and am typically very careful when I explore health issues with a client.

In the ray of the Sun

I had an interesting dream last night in which I was reading a friends chart and commented on the meaning behind her Mercury Moon Sun conjunction. I told her that “because these planets are so close to the Sun they cannot be seen- and that’s why you can’t see them”.

The dream was more of a personal message to her than anything else, but it got me thinking about anything that is conjunct the Sun. Unlike any other conjunction, this kind of conjunction is super unnoticeable. Even a planet that isn’t conjunct the Sun, but is still close, is engulfed in the “rays of the Sun”.

To me, this exemplifies the power of the Sun. It truly does not yield for any other planet. It’s master is the galactic center, to which it orbits. If you have a planet within the rays of the Sun, even if it isn’t conjunct- it’s function is yielded to a vast, all encompassing focus, greater purpose.

It’s uniqueness as an individual force is hidden as it gets lost in the brilliance of the light. This is likened unto jumping into the bon fire, yet remaining your unique essence while you become one with the creative majesty of the fire. Imagine Pluto jumping into the bon fire. Your desire is to OSMOS with that fire, to find the consuming light within you. Mars? You simply can’t stop the creative energy, your on fire, your on fire! Go with it, create, express, keep on going, discover your power!

The orbs of the Sun are sure unlike any other kind of Orb. Something to think about in your own chart for sure. Also, many folks have Mercury or Venus in the rays of the Sun, as these planets, from a geocentric point of view, never move to far away from the Sun for too long.

My approach to aspects

The first thing I do when looking at aspects is I ignore the particular aspect. I simply take the two planets or points involved and recognize that they are IN A RELATIONSHIP with eachother. I don’t yet know what the relationship is (the kind of aspect) but I know there’s something going on.

That right there is more than half the journey in my opinion. Saturn Jupiter in aspect to each other? that says a lot- the restrictive force and the expansive force are operating together. As a part of a soul’s strategy, there is a need to integrate worldly realism and responsibility (Saty) with intuition, risk taking and big thinking (Jupy).

Then the kind of aspect. Even then, we can take it slowly. If it’s an angular aspect (conjunction, square or opposition) we know this life represents a critical turning point, or culmination of these two forces together.

Now I recognize that aspects symbolize a process- to have Jupiter and Saturn in an opposition to eachother- means that prior to this life, something must have been going on for these two planets to reach that point in their relationship. You see, oppositions mean a culmination- it’s the maximum intent that can be achieved in any cycle- and acheiving that requires a lot of conscious intent. So recognizing if this is a new cylce or an old is an important thing to look at too.

planetary nodes

I’m no expert on this matter (or any matter, for that matter)…. but girl oh girl do planetary nodes matter!

I’m still processing/discovering how each of the planets do or do not have a direct correlation to prior lives. What I do know is that the SOUTH NODE of anything correlates to how that function (planet) has been actualized in the past. Take the Moon for example.

The moon symbolizes (at least our current life) EGO. It is our self image- the reality we project about ourselves, and thus reality that allows us to feel safe as we gradually evolve. The south node of the Moon naturally correlates to the identity structure that has been established prior to this life.

We can do the same thing with all the planets. Check it out for yourself. Here’s a website that allows you to plug in any palent or asteroid and discover it’s south and north nodes for any date. http://www.true-node.com/eph1/

The further the planet is from the sun the slower it moves. The aforementioned nodes of Pluto (see my response to sOma’s pOst on the current transits) are currently in Capricorn (south node) and Cancer (north node). On average it takes appox 2000 years for the nodes of Pluto to move from one sign to the next. I think we got about another 1000 years or so of the Capricorn/Cancer axis.

When it comes to the planetary nodes of the outer planets- they symbolize the collective past and future for all souls relative to that function. Pluto’s sn in Capricorn means that all souls alive today have previously been born into a patriarchal reality. The nn in Cancer symbolizes the natural evolution of all souls to a Matriarchy. The position of anyone’s Pluto is (in the very least) the current life strategy that serves as a bridge between the past (south node of Pluto) and the future (north node of Pluto).

So when the transiting Pluto (which is currently in Capricorn) will conjunct it’s own south node, also in Capricorn (this decade), the very dyanamics of the Capricornian status quo we currently live in (ie the current patriarchy) and all the accumilated karma of the reality we have created (south node of Pluto in capricorn) will yield a profound transmutation of energy of this planet (Pluto) as the old paradigm (sn in capricorn) needs to be adjusted in order for all soul’s to experience a new context for their evolution on this planet (north node in Cancer).

Interesting huh?

With other nodes, like Mercury or Venus- they move pretty quickly. It’s fascinating to incorporate them into natal chart reading. If you have a planet conjunct a planetary node- there is a lot of insight to gain from that.

When interpreting a chart, I look at the lunar nodes and the planetary ruler of the lunar nodes. We can also look at the planetary nodes of the planetary ruler of the lunar nodes! (example: lunar south node in sag, lunar north node in gemini. The lunar nodes are ruled by Jupiter and Mercury. We can look at Jupiter and Mercury as the gateways to the past (sn) and the future (nn). The south node of Jupiter give us more information for how that south node in Sag has been developed and known in the past. The north node of Mercury gives us information about what will naturally arise for a soul as they develop their Gemini north node).

The tricky thing about Neptune…

… is you can’t win. It’s not about winning, it’s not about things working out the way you want them to. I feel called to talk about this now

I got a natal Mercury Neptune conjunction at 28 degrees sag. Both Saturn and Uranus are in an exact square to that conjunction. I can’t even say I’m being disillusioned, I’m being humbled.

Wherever we find Neptune is where a soul is gradually awakened to it’s utter lack of control and power in this profoundly vast and great mystery. Mercury Neptune in Sag= what do I really know? What is fact? How can I know for certain? Do I speak the truth, or rationalize what the truth is so that I feel secure?

That’s my blog for today. Wherever you got Neptune, Goddess wants to humble you. Chances are your sense of safety in this world is linked to the supposition of a reality that doesn’t actually exist. At key points that supposition will be seen for what it is- a mere creation of your own imagination.

Illusion is replaced by what has always been here. The undoing of our false projections onto reality, onto God, only leads to the revelation of what actually is true.

Neptune often manifests as a strong idealism- a yearning for a reality that is somehow better than the current status quo. That idealism is the very anthithesis of Neptune. Neptune symbolizes the ultimate realism. More so than Saturn.

I remember a few years ago, walking the streets in Olympia. I had a sudden realization that I actually don’t know anything about astrology. The vastness of what this stuff ACTUALLY IS. Seemed very far from my understanding. I felt SMALL and insignificant in the face of what astrology actually is. That feeling cyclicly returns to me.

Oppositions and conjunctions: A cacophony of thoughts

….This came up in a reading  I recently gave to my friend. She had an abundant of oppositions in her chart that all involved in some way the Pisces/Virgo archetypes. She basically has all these amazing dreams (Pisces). However, her entire life, whenever she has started to make them a reality (Virgo) she has gotten overwhelmed with how directionless she felt. She would start a project a zillion times, from a zillion different angels, and walk away from it just as many times.

I am soooo fascinated by oppositions, and why some souls create lifetimes in which evolution is contingent upon working them out.

Before I talk too much about oppositions, lets take a look at conjunctions. There are two kinds of conjunctions: 1. the New phase conjunction and 2. the balsamic conjunction.

The new phase conjunction between any two planets symbolizes the very beginning of a cycle. New phase simply means the faster moving planet is moving away from the slower moving planet (i.e Pluto 0 degrees Libra, Mars 5 degrees Libra= new phase conjunction). A soul born with a new phase conjunction is developing those two planets in relationship to one another in an entirely new way. This would be the first, or one of the first lifetimes in which this cylce is beginning. There will naturally be a freshness, clarity and openness to begin the journey.

The balsamic phase conjunction symbolizes the completion of a cycle. It’s the very end of an entire cycle between any two planets. Balsamic means the faster moving planet is applying towards the slower moving planet (ie Pluto 0 degrees Libra, Mars 25 degrees Virgo= balsamic conjunction). A soul born with a balsamic conjunction is required to relive certain dynamics of the past in order to bring to as great a completion as possible the intention those two planets have together. This is innately more challenging for most souls than the new phase conjunction because progress and newness is not possible until the old is completed. This doesn’t mean experiences of newness won’t come about- it simply means the archetype is directly associated with completing the cycle.

In between the new phase conjunction and the balsamic conjunction is the famed opposition. The opposition is the midpoint bewteen each conjunction. It represents the culmination of the evolutionary intention implied by any two celestial bodies.

By the way, aspects are indicate of cycles that started prior to this life

When we look at aspects, we often ignore the fact that the aspects on our chart means that each soul, in this partciular life, is at a particular phase of a longer evolutionary journey. Each lifetime is a little trip that the soul plans for itself. We’re here with one chart only- and that chart defines the parameters of the evolutionary journey.

Back to oppositions:

Souls that have an opposition in their chart are perpetually faced with the neccesity to release any patterns that do not allow for a harmonious integration of the polarity. This is very different than the conjunction. In the conjunction there is nothing to release in terms of conflicting patterns. The only intention of the conjunction (both new phase and balsamic) is synthesis. The sign and house of the conjuncting planets will indicate the nature of that synthesis. The opposition also requires synthesis, however in order for that to occur opposites need to be reconsiled.

My friend and teacher Adam Gainsburg calls oppositions “backwards facing conjunctions”. As a phase in a cycle, this lifetime symbolize the maximum level of achievement, and thus mastery that can be achieved in the cycle. It’s the “full Moon” of the cycle.

We all have oppositions in our chart. How do I know this? What natural oppositions occur in EVERY chart? The opposition between the ascendant descendant. Between the midheaven and the lowheaven. And between the nodes of the Moon!

And all of those points are nodal points. The 4 angels (ascendant descendant, midheaven and lowheaven) are the nodes at which the local horizon and meridians cross the ecliptic. And the nodes of the Moon are the 2 nodes at which the Moon’s apparent orbit around the earth intersects the ecliptic. Ecliptic and oppositions. Hmm…

Our relationship to relationships

……………Right on, I’ve been invited to blog on aKosmic Mind.

So I’ve been thinking about when I’m going to fall in love (I’ve had so many dreams that it’s just around the corner). And so I’ve naturally been looking at my chart to find possible dates and time periods of when this will happen.

That’s a dangerous thing to do. We won’t talk about that now. I want to share with you some other things I’ve been thinking of about. In particular: How to understand our relationsihp to relationsihps through the natal chart.

The most basic starting point is Venus. Venus correlates to our inner relationship to ourself. It defines our self esteem, what we value, how we give ourself what we need; it’s our deep interior. Therefore, the outer side of Venus symbolizes the kind of people we will attract into our life as a natural reflection of how we relate to ourselves (inner side of Venus).

It’s a great thing to do. Take your natal Venus and see if you can recognize how that natal Venus describes your “inner ear” how to listen to your deepest needs. And then, notice how that impacts on the kind of relationship dynamics you have attracted into your life.

Beyond Venus I’ve been looking at some other very obvious relationship significators that most folks tend to ignore. This being the Decsendant. The descendant is who we become through intimacy- it naturally implies a lack of self knowing, as relationship is required in order to discover oneself. Therefore the DC (descendant) symbolizes who we become through intimacy. The more we cultivate a knowing of other, the more we will cultivate awareness of ours-elf- and that awareness will be a reflection of our dc. Think of it this way. Everyone talks about the ascendant right? Well the ascendant, naturally correlating to the Aries archetype, is all about how a soul individuates its very existence in life, on it’s own terms. The DC is the very opposite of that.

Another fun thing to note:

Did you know that any planet like Mercury, or Neptune, or the Sun can play a super significant role in your relationship to relationships? How so? Simply, the sign on your DC is, is ruled by a planet (i.e if your DC is Pisces, then Neptune is the ruler of your DC). And thus that planet is the facilitator for our relationships.

If we look to the ruler of our DC, we will understand the kind of people we will be interacting with- who we will attract into our life/be attracted to as a means to know ourselves more. . Therefore learning how to be emotionally grounded in yourself, so that you you can attract a partner that can actually give you what you need, would be an important first step towards attracting a partner.

Or, if you have Gemini on the DC and your Mercury is in the 9th house, you will attract a partner that you can learn with/ explore a wide range of ideas with. The nature of these ideas will be about understanding the inherent truths behind creation. You and your partner would likely learn (Gemini) by traveling, having big discussions about big things, explore practices/ share the same Guru. It’s also likely that you will seek a partner with whom who can teach, or publish (9th house) with etc…  The lesson to learn with this configuration would be to be committed to discern (Mercury) what is true and what isn’t true via your own direct experience (9th house) so that you and your partner can learn via direct exploration, and not have intellectual debates/arguments about who is right (Gemini via Mercury in 9th).
