Venus/Mars journal…”Stand open”

In love, we are protecters of eachothers solitude”

Rilke

…and I would add: …  Hearts!

On oct 7th, on the Libra New Moon, Venus and Mars were conjunct in mid Scorpio. Venus then slid all the way back to Libra and Mars carried on (going forward), heading for the Great Attractor and to the center of the Milky Way galaxy.  Venus wasnt confident in her sense of Self. Plus, her relationships were having problems, needing to be tested and reworked.  This caused many breakups within humanity.  It also caused many new ones to form.  And for those who stuck with it, new vistas blazed. When Venus went direct last friday (the 19th of Nov) –just before the Taurus Full Moon– all that was hidden was revealed.  Our shadows in ourselves and in our relationships, were destroyed by the light of the Taurus Full moOn.  The change we were waiting for arrived. Venus and Mars blessed humanity. Oh, Disguise…Oh Pain….Oh, Discordia, why must you lie to us.

Venus and Mars will reunite this spring in the signs of Aries and Taurus. From the  around 21th till the 25th of May, they will be holding hands from 7-11 degrees Taurus, walking side by side, telling their stories. It all happens from Scorpio to Taurus (starting with Venus going retro on October 8th, reuniting in late May in Taurus), from one side of the zodiac to the next, complete transformation unfurls and solidification curls, in us and with our mates. Change, the unbelievable weave of Love.  See it, feel it, ride it for what it is: the ocean of love and hate, male and female,  you and me, anima/animus, yin and yang.  May your search for perfect balance be a sacred one.

Currently, I’m offering Relationship readings for the same rate as a Natal chart reading. Sound good? Send me an email, and we can illuminate this Love in your life.

Long days and pleasant nights my friends,

(in response the many suggestions on bringing more Transits into both the blog and podcast, I would like to introduce “Transit of the Day.” When I’m not doing topic related posts, I will be blogging specific transits. Sound good?).

Venus went retrograde on the 9th of October at 13 Scorpio. This annual experience–of Venus appearing to move backwards in the sky–creates a backward spiral within us too. Old relationships emerge, forgotten faces come back into lives, vital ones (thank God for Facebook), and our relationships are tested–bank accounts too.  Its a time of “going back” to what is either missed or unfinished.  Venus retro in Scorpio brings up all our unconscious fears we have of abandonment, being alone, and fessing up to our own “f*cked up sh*t.” She implodes our awareness directly to the source of our problems, no questions asked.  This particular retrograde experience has been special for two main reasons:

1. Venus went all the way into Libra (her own sign) this retrogradation cycle, a sign in which Saturn currently resides.  Venus is the lord of Saturn, and now they share the same Sign.  What does this mean? It only strengthens the already challenging experience of Venus retrograde; it makes it more “serious” perhaps–for all Libran content considered. Personally, I have been witnessing great peril in relationships.  People are breaking up.  I guess its inevitable when we are forced against our wills (this transit) to reassess much of who we are.  Venus relates to our Value systems.  And so, this reevaluation of what we deem important in our lives is on the table –so to speak. As far as relationships are concerned: if you are brave enough to make it “work,” “Make it work.” The challenge is great, but you can do it.  For all those who feel they need to flee, Flee, its probably right.  There are new dynamics dawning for all of us.  When Venus goes Direct tomorrow (27 Libra) I feel all us will be seeing Beauty in our lives we were missing today.  New eyes for our Love and Money.

2. The Scorpio New moON we are currently riding out (it was on the 5th of Nov.) occurred within 2 degrees of where Venus went Retrograde.  This is an interesting point.  Its as if Venus dropped a crumb–something the Sun and moON would recognize-so that we would be able to track her down.  She was kidnapped by Scorpio (Pluto/Hades).  (Sounds a bit like a certain Myth I know….[ie. abduction into the Underworld, spring and fall.....]).  So, the New moOn was our chance to begin the search for Venus: the source of all Beauty in our lives. It was our chance to under-mind the worst parts of our personality, and transform them into productive perennial flowerings. The Full moOn is on Sunday.  Prepare yourselves for this overflowing experience of a Taurus Full mOOn. Watch closely, and celebrate. The MOon nectar is rising. Beauties abound.

Sweet sweet Venus, reveal your Truth for all the world to see…

Pluto in the 12th house, Pisces, Jupiter/Neptune: “Out at Sea”

“Dreams become realities, ego’s get shattered…”

Wrapping up this Plutonic trip around the zodiac, Pluto in the 12th house, Pisces, Jupiter/Neptune is an emotional trauma which relates to our Dreams, and their necessary destruction.  Not that we are destined to have “bad ones” or “nightmares” but that we are meant to experience absolute disenchantment when it comes to the unrealistic ones. Our dreams/ideals must be tested, and they always manifest in unpredictable forms–some of the time, not exactly what we had hoped for. Lets allow Jeff Green to illuminate:

Pluto in the Twelfth House or Pisces: emotional trauma can occur to these individuals for the following causes:
1. When their innate sense of ideals are so severely crushed through life conditions that they become lost souls; souls that become utterly aimless, ungrounded, and who simply wander the alleyways of life.
2. When these individuals create a reality that seems to be the embodiment of all that they have ever dreamed of only to have that reality destroyed. The degree of disillusionment can create a state of absolute emotional devastation in which the will to continue living can become weakened if not extinguished.
3. When their innate need to rescue, save or help those in need, or those who are unstable, weird, or fractured becomes over extended to the point of feeling all used up. The trauma is one of total emotional exhaustion wherein they begin to wall themselves off from life, to enclose themselves in order to create a protection from the emotional demands of those around them.
When Pluto transits the Twelfth House, forms stressful aspects through transit to Neptune, the planetary ruler of the Twelfth House, or to planets within the natal Twelfth House, these issues and subsequent traumas may occur.

Via transit, I call this the “Dark night of the Soul.” When Pluto transits Neptune or Jupiter, we are faced with an absolute exhaustion of our core dreams in life, and we are forced to see the unrealistic nature of them. The biggest Let down. The goal here is to end up in a Surrender state.  It’s not to say, “quit dreaming” or “get out of your imagination”–on the contrary–Pluto wants us to dream productively; he wants us to be more realistic with our dreams. The state of Surrender also allows the Savior complex Jeff mentions to melt away.  If are completely in a state of Wu Wei (Enlightened Non action), then we won’t be prone to saving others, who ultimately need to save themselves. We get to save that energy and offer support by example instead.  Also, paying close attention to your dreams–for signs and symbols–is a wonderful way of navigating this sea of confusion.  synchronicity, coincidence, and De ja vu are also indicators you are moving in the right direction. Follow the butterflies (in and outside of your gut!). Good luck, good dreamin’.

…If you are experiencing something similar, I would love to help you in any way I can.  I’m always offering donation based Readings for all those interested.

Anti-Culture: Pluto in the 11th, Aquarius, Uranus/Saturn

“Culture is not your friend”

Terence Mckenna

We are all weird.  Some are faster to admit, but when it comes right down to it: we are all pretty damn weird. And what is weird, but different and wonderful. With Aquarius, the 11th house, and Uranus/Saturn we are dealing with what Jung called Individuation process.  Individuation–from what I understand (I’m no Jungian Psychologist)–is the movement towards our true (authentic) Self.  The movement can be scary–especially if our friends or culture don’t agree with our Truth.  When Pluto comes into the picture, we then experience the emotional trauma’s associated with this Archetype: like alienation, confusion, isolation and genius. Lets allow Jeff Green to illuminate:

Pluto in the Eleventh House or Aquarius: emotional trauma can occur for these individuals for the following causes:
1. When they realize that the lifestyle that they have been living is not reflective of their actual nature, or when their lifestyle is radically altered through cataclysmic events which they seem powerless to alter.
2. When they experience being intensely used and manipulated by others who have been considered friends or lovers, or when their friends or lovers seem to turn against them for no apparent or legitimate reason.
3. When the overall culture treats these people as iconoclastic threats in such a way as to create a reality for them of always being on the outside looking in.

When Pluto transits the Eleventh House, forms stressful aspects through transit to Uranus, to planets within the natal Eleventh House, or to the planetary ruler of the Eleventh House these issues and subsequent traumas can occur.

As Terence states in the opening quote, “Culture is not your friend,”  we must wake up to the limiting aspects of our culture, and become aware of how it limits our spirits from shining.  Culture is nothing more than a mental construct.  In many ways, it is shaped and catered towards fulfilling a mysterious “someones” needs.  For example, why, in our culture, are alocohol and tobacoo the only legal mind altering substances, when they cause more death combined than most forms of cancer? Is it not to propituate slumber and weakness in the masses…? All the while, the more constructive and liberating substances of the Earth are made illegal.  God forbide we see through the bullshit.  And so, when a person in our culture decides to live outside of the prescribed ways (ie. not drinking or smoking or participating in the madness) they are then alienated from a great majority of the culture.  It’s unfortunate, but true.  Pluto in the 11th challenges us to take the leap, no matter what the fight we are forced endure with our culture and friends.  With diligence, we can then breakthrough into our True Individuated state.  Only then do we have a future worth living for.

Pluto in Capricorn, 10th house, or with Saturn…

“To hit bottom is to fall from grace.”
- Doug Horton
Maybe hitting bottom is a bit extreme–it could simply be : heading towards “the bottom.” Whats the bottom all about?: to have Nothing to identify with; a cluelessness of who we are in the World.  It all circles around the idea of Authority (Personal and external Authorities). Pluto with Saturn creates an instant karma equation, where we are always testing the laws that bind us–messing with authority (in and out).  Deep down we know we are screwing up, yet we push the envelope anyways. When Pluto is in the 10th house, we must face all our fears and intense reactions to society, and find our own power within it.  Lets allow Jeff Green to illuminate:

Pluto in the Tenth House or Capricorn: emotional trauma can occur to these individuals for the following causes:
1. When they experience a total “fall from grace”, or from positions of power and/or social position. This can be extremely intense because these individuals are inwardly defined by their social position or role. The fall or loss of position requires an intense inner reformulation or metamorphosis of their sense of identity, an identity that is not defined by social power or position. Former President Nixon is an example of this dynamic.
2. When they are born into a family in which one or both parents are emotional dictators who expect the child to conform to their sense of reality. The child is thus not acknowledged for their own innate individuality. This type of trauma creates an adult who is emotionally closed and rigid because he or she has learned as a child to emotionally shut down in order not to be hurt. The delayed stress of childhood manifests as adults who try to control or shape the emotional lives of those that they interact with. This is done through confronting type judgements that they project onto others.
When Pluto transits the Tenth House, forms stressful aspects through transit to Saturn, planets within the natal Tenth House, or to the planetary ruler of the Tenth House it can generate these issues and subsequent traumas.

Currently, Pluto is in Capricorn.  The above descriptions apply to the entire world over.  Our paper goverments and see through media will–inevitably–be revealed.  Pluto’s job in the cosmic scheme of things is to remove the weakest links–to unbridle the lies–and show the true face of what we are dealing with.  If its ourselves, then we see faces we have long forgotten; If its our governments, we see their “true” faces on the bottom.  Pluto will remain in Capricorn until the early 20′s, during which time, the United States of America will experience a Pluto return (take Saturn return, apply it to a country, multiply by 10, and you begin to see the power of this mark). By the early 20′s–i feel–our world won’t be recognizable to itself.  Pluto will have changed the rules. May it be a Good change. We pray.

Pluto loOking up: in the 9th, Sag, Jupiter

“Lukewarm acceptance is more bewildering than outright rejection.”

MLK Jr.

Sagittarius is the Archetype which generates our philosophical place in the world.  It’s not just: “oh, I believe in the Big Bang….”–it runs deeper.  Our philosophical stance is the ground of our sanity; it gives us life purpose.  Our family lineage (tradition), our religion, and our beliefs that some sentience is in control of this “Thing” all assist us in getting out of bed in the morning. Its Faith.  Jupiter gives us  this context to live by.  When it is tested by the hurricane winds of Pluto, its hard to hold our steady stance.  We are tested…in every way. Lets allow Jeff Green to Illuminate:

Pluto in the Ninth House or Sagittarius: emotional trauma can occur to these individuals for the following causes:
1.By experiencing a core alienation relative to their country and culture and origin.
2. By experiencing intense belief system confrontations with others, or a society in which their beliefs are fundamentally at odds, or contradictory to the beliefs of most others.
3) When cataclysmic life events occur that forces them to examine the nature of their beliefs and underlying principles that generate those beliefs
4. When they experience intense violations of truth, honesty, and the principle of justice relative to the truth of any given situation.
When Pluto transits the Ninth House, forms stressful aspects through transit to Jupiter, the planetary ruler of the Ninth House, or planets within the natal Ninth House these issues and subsequent traumas can occur.

…because Sag is a mutable Archetype, one of the best ways to heal from these nightmares, is to mutate to your surroundings.  If you are a Buddhist living underneath the tightly pulled “Bible belt,” learn how to speak their language; If you are Black, living in a white city, do you best to destroy prejudice; if your white, in a black city, be brave and face your cultures demons; if you are….(you get the picture). Luckily, we have the internet now-a-days.  It seems to allow this Pluto/Sag process to happen much more smoothly: if we feel we are out of context (or place) where we are living, we can always find our community online.

The goal: To realize that your “Filter” is only a filter, and nothing more.  You don’t have all the answers, nor did your Father’s.  You are then humbled in the face of “god.” It generates wisdom, and creates the Wiseman.

Pluto goes to Hell… (I mean Home): 8th house, Scorpio, Mars

“Our demons are our own limitations, which shut us off from the realization of the ubiquity of the spirit….each of these demons is conquered in a vision quest!”

Joseph Campbell

This exalted–or better said “domicile” signature brings the best and the worst out of this Archetype.  Being the nature of Archetypes arent good or bad–completely black or white–we can trust this signature not to just bring incredible pain and suffering, but also ecstatic bliss and power.  I’m not entirely sure how the other posts have come off–completely negative, slightly negative…just a bit positive–but it is my desire to keep my analysis balanced.  Pluto does set an easy trap, which leads into fear mentality and negative feelings. AHh….. we can only try our best. Lets allow Jeff to illuminate a bit:

Pluto in the Eight House or Scorpio: emotional trauma can occur to these individuals for the following causes:
1. When life conditions are created in which they experience severe and intense betrayal, and violations of trust.
2. When they experience being intensely used and manipulated by other(s)
3. When they experience intense sexual violations and misuse of such energy
4. When they experience intense loss of those that are closest to them
5. When life conditions are created in which they are forced to examine their own motives, intentions, and emotional agendas. This examination, at some point, will uncover the subtle and not so subtle ways in which they have manipulated others or situations in order to gain something that they need or want. The light of emotional honesty creates a cruel glare that exposes the inner lies that they create for themselves and others.
When Pluto transits the Eight House, forms stressful aspects to Mars and/or Pluto through transits, to the planetary ruler of the Eight House, or to planets within the natal Eight House it can generate these issues and subsequent traumas.

Magic too! This signature seems to be a magnet for the darker sides of magic (the Occult [and that to say the Occult is Dark, but, the potential therein lies]).  In a general sense, magic is just the unseen world of desire–no matter how hidden–acting itself out in the world.  Magic in the way we usually relate to it: spells, potions, witches etc–is accurate, but a sliver manifestation of magic at work. The world is magic and this magic can possess this native. We must be careful in not creating enemies–always, but especially here (think: voodoo dolls).  Psychic warfare is a real battleground. We must make our peace.

Manipulation is only retatliation for our lost and confused ways. The goal–I feel–with this signature is to find all the power in ourselves, with no crutches to hold us up (friends, parents, lovers…money).  We must know what its like to live a life unfettered by stagnant emotional stabilities.  Once we see the problem, then we can muster the will to change; once we have the Will to change, the transformation takes place!!!

People with Pluto in the 8th:

…powerful charecters….cOol charecters.  No coincidence.  Scorpio–paradoxially–is what is cool.  ”Oh, you bad–you sooooOoo bad.” Our attraction–of course–can be seen in Vampires (listen to Exploring Astrology #56 for more).

Make sure you got a lighter.

Plutonic Love: 7th house, Venus, and Libra

“I need to have them–they are all I can think of–I can’t live without them; can’t imagine breathing without them!” Spoken from the Plutonic heart which lives in us all. With Pluto in the 7th, it is devastatingly emphasized–this foolish heart that cannot control itself.  Pluto involved with Venus makes us desire to sacrifice it all on the alter of Love–with our hearts as the centerpiece (next to the roses)–only to be let down by absence of our beloveds when the ceremony begins. Helplessness and pain drips into the heart. Longing and sad Love songs take up our time. We must avoid setting ourselves up, only to be let down.  Lets allow Jeff Green to illuminate:

Pluto in the Seventh House or Libra: emotional trauma can occur to these individuals for the following cause:
1. When life conditions occur in which they are forced to realize that the sense of purpose and meaning that they are looking for is not embodied in another person, but is within themselves. These individuals’ core sense of identity and security is bound up, linked with, the desire and need to be in intimate relationships. At key points in their lives these individuals will experience fundamental breakdowns, confrontations, or cataclysmic loss within their existing relationship. This has the effect of forcing them in on themselves in order to learn to grow from within themselves, not through and because of another person. The compulsion of co-dependency is shattered.
When Pluto transits the Seventh House, forms stressful aspects through transit to Venus, to the planetary ruler of the Seventh House, or to planets within the natal Seventh House it can generate such conditions within existing partnerships with the subsequent trauma.

The greatest remedy for Pluto is Libra?: Playing it cool…

Love’s blossom can always fade quick if you are looking for it outside yourselves.  If Pluto is transiting through your 7th house, be carefull.  No need to fall so fast you hit your chin–its a better idea to just play it cool.  Never invest your own Soul for another until they have done the same for you.  Don’t be a Fool; don’t obsess.  It is exactly what Pluto wants from you.  Avoid it at all costs.  Become aware of this emotional Need, and use any weapons you got against the possession: mantras, visualizations, sheilds, armors, or venusian heart protecters. Its vital you are proctected and aware of the Summoning of Plutonic Love.  It will get you every time if you watching close.

When understood (the true power of this combo), we can sink into the mysterious depths of Tantric Love and complete and seamless Union with another.  The Soul Reunion is then complete.

(…it takes practice.  Its the Dragon work>)

Pluto destroys our routine: in the 6th, Mercury, or Virgo

We now discover the need to “hold it all together.” In the 6th house, we try our best to keep our lives in proper working order.  This includes our bodies, as well as our ‘outer’ lives.  Virgo, of course, relates to Service, Health, Healing, and Work, yet, there is something underlying these popular manifestations of Virgo, and it is Guilt.  Mercury involved with Pluto–like we saw with the Gemini–has to do with the Mind, and how it interacts with its surroundings.  Pluto creates trauma to our Rational Minds, it melts our Logic, and gives desperation and the fiendish need for the reason WHY (we must reorient ourselves).  WIth the Virgoan side of Mercury, Pluto steals away our sense of control.  Anxiety runs high here when unfortunate circumstances interfere with our tidy lil’ world; like when kids track mud, or you find out you have cancer spreading in your gut.   Without another word, lets allow Jeff Green to briefly illuminate:

Pluto in the Sixth House or Virgo: emotional trauma can occur to these individuals for the following causes:

1. When life conditions occur in which the individual experiences an intense lack of meaning, or when their life conditions become meaningless. This sense of lack, of an existential void, generates a total state of crisis. This crisis is one of feeling totally displaced on an environmental basis, and a sense of acute inner aloneness in which they can feel victimized by the life conditions that they are experiencing.

2. When life conditions occur in which the individual feels intense persecution or criticism of an unjust nature. Not being able to understand why these conditions are contracted generates the trauma.

When Pluto transits the Sixth House, forms stressful aspects to Mercury, or to the planetary ruler of the Sixth House, or to planets in the natal Sixth House these issues and subsequent traumas can occur.

Funny, but one thing Jeff fails to mention in this one, is the importance of Health.  In my practice, I have witnessed dozens of charts, in which people experience illness and healing crisis when Pluto is involved with this Archetype.  As an example, Pluto transiting though the 6th house. 9 times out of 10, I see some sort of serious health problem emerge during this time.  The purpose of this terrifying process, is to gain a greater appreciation and understanding of the body–and of life, in general.  Lots of these folks go on to become remarkable healers.  Another signature could be Pluto in the 6th house natally, and Saturn comes along via transit.  This too can cause lots of health issues. Or Pluto transiting over Mercury would be another potent example. The correlation between Health, Guilt, and Healing is a rich topic, and I feel all the fine strands of this dark and shimmering web lie in your own inquisitive mind.  If you or anyone else you know is experiencing this Plutonic event currently, make sure they know what is happening.  Enlighten them about the underlying cause of their ills.  Sometimes an Astrologer has just what it takes to dispel all the mistakes of the Mind.  Sometimes, this is exactly what someone needs.  Who said Astrology wasn’t healing?

Pluto blinks in flames of Creation: 5th house, Leo, and the Sun

In these flames of Plutonic necessity,  we are smacked right off our pedestal in one striking blow. I’ve seen it devastate many-a-ego.  Lets allow Jeff Green illuminate:

Pluto in the Fifth House or Leo: emotional shocks or trauma can occur to these individuals for the following causes:

1. When life conditions occur to totally defeat egocentric delusions of grandeur. This deflation of the ego creates an inner sense of loss. This loss is based in not being allowed to be at the center stage of life, of not being the self-appointed star of the play.

…like moving to the Big city, for the Big break, only to be Broken when you discover a thousand versions of your self; all of which are just as “good” or better than you at your given trade. Devastation follows, with a lose of purpose.
2. When life conditions occur in which these individuals feel an almost absolute powerlessness to change or alter how those life conditions are occurring. The awareness of “forces larger than themselves” creates the sense of an ego death until these individuals incorporate and align their egos with those forces. When this occurs creative change begins in very positive ways. These changes can lead to very creative expansions of the overall life purpose.

…like Superman falling off a horse, breaking his back, and being wheelchair bound; it’s an opportunity to see life from a varied angle–one, hopefully much different than the egocentric one which existed before.  Its all about being humbled in the face of God (whatever that looks like….Om?). Lol…
When Pluto transits the Fifth House, or forms stressful aspects through transit to the Sun, or the planetary ruler of the Fifth House, or to planets within the natal Fifth House these issues and subsequent traumas can occur.

Often-but not always-these folks will have an exeptional talent.  My brother has Pluto in the 5th opposing his Taurus Sun, and in his case, he was stripped from a full ride scholarship for golf at the most prestigious school in the country–essentially–because of his selfishness and need for a good time.  This trauma was absolutely devasting for not only him, but the whole family–especially his father (the Sun is father in the chart).  Now (and this is true for everyone who experiences this) he is flopping around in his own self delusion, wondering what exactly he is going to do with his life.  All the while, he holds onto a false reality of his past, thinking that he can go back, and somehow change things.  Sad really, yet necessary.  What is meant to eventually occur is a spark…and it turns Flame when they discover the next step:  removing themselves enough from their own little world, so they will be able to see the bigger picture, which creates a humbling effect, then heals.  The heart is then set right–filled with love and compassion.

Oh, eternal flame! Burn it away with your purifying flame! Hallelujah..
