The entire chart is where we look to find out about health.
The 6th house is often regarded as “the health house”- the 6th house simply has to do with the imperative for each soul to be in a constant state of self improvement. simple example in nature: how many times does your dog lick it’s but? We gotta stay clean.
The entire chart is about health. Why? We often forget that our physical existance, down to the core- is 100% an intentional playground within which evolution takes place. Each soul creates the context of their life- including their dna, the culture family, body etc that they come into. There is nothing about our physical existance that doesn’t in some way serve as a container for the evolutionary process.
There’s a reason why most of us can’t fly. There’s a reason why people get sick. There’s a reason for cause and effect. Nothing is innately incurrable. However to look at a sickness from the point of view of “how do i get rid of this” is truly missing the point. If we ask the question “Why is this happening? Why is it like this?” we are then creating the space to understand the nature of our desires, which is what created these conditions in the first place.
Another way of looking at this. Most of us can understand that if we keep on running into the same health, relationship or anything situations, we can ask, “why do I attract this to myself?” We can ask that question for the bigger question: “why do I even have this chart?” When we ask that question we are opening ourselves to remember why we came here in the first place.
The answer isn’t “to make sure nothing ‘bad’ happens”. The soul doesn’t get sick. The human body gets sick. Everything physical rises and falls. Why would something timeless create a series of very temporary lifetimes in which various temporary conditions come and go? It’s a good question. The answer can only be found within each of us, by each of us.
One final thought. Healing of sickness is possible- in fact miraculous healing of seemingly “incurable” disease is possible. Again, nothing is impossible. However, as Jesus says in a course in miracles “miracles are everyone’s right- but purification is neccesary first.” How can we cure something if we don’t even understand why we created it in the first place? To me, astrology is a gem for helping me locate the REASON behind difficult experiences such as sickness. Before anything ‘bad’ can go away, one must understand the reason for its manifestation in the first place. And sometimes it is not meant to go away. Proper understanding is necessary…
… I am humbled by other astrologers who seem to really know how to understand such things. There astrologers have self knowledge (the best kind of knowledge) more than anything else (example Jeff Green). I cannot do it myself, and am typically very careful when I explore health issues with a client.
Ari Moshe

Dr. Moshe, how many licks does it take for a dog to lap up its butt? Seriously, how many? Can you see this in the chart? If so, I bet Pluto is involved (butt). lol….thank you for reminding me that the whole chart is the cure; reminding all of us. I would like to help narrow in on a few bits a health in the chart: 1> the Ascendant: if it is strong, the person will have a more potent constitution than if it were weak; the ruler of the Ascendant also plays a vital role in this process. A person with Leo rising, with the Sun exalted in Aries in the 1st house will have more vitality, and depending on Neptune in the chart, also a stronger immune system; 2. the Sun: since its our energy source, we depend on it to stay healthy; as long as the Sun is shining strong, we stay strong. And the 3rd I would mention (though I want to say the moOn) is of course the 6th house and its ruler. LIke you mentioned, the 6th house has to do with maintainance, and “maintaining” the body. Saturn in the 6th house, for example, can create lots of problems in a persons body in general; or Venus ruling a Taurus sixth house could offer us stomach and kidney problems. When its all broken down into its simplest form, we are meant to be aware, careful, and clean when it comes to our body. We cannot expect nature (Pisces) to take care of us without any effort, we must do the work (Virgo). Yoga, Organic food, and meditation will be a stellar start.
love ya ari,

this is a relevant post for someone like myself, and is myself! that has gone from being on of the most robust, healthy persons you would ever meet, to walking thru devastating illness, and facing death… without going into the details, it was a gift, that woke me up, spiritually, and started emotional healing and cleaning on a deep level….
this has evolved, to this point in time, that everything, in my life, so everything in my chart ,is a gift from god, to help me become my true self.
perhaps in specific or acute ways the 6th house, planets and aspects, can show the manifestation of our illness, but it is all our walking, all our chart that is the channels…
i do feel that souls can get sick…hmmm. or perhaps at certain levels, the deepest level is inviolate and pure….
Beautiful Nura. You are headstrong, and a true inspiration. Thank you for all your comments.
This is a rather tough, but really interesting topic…health as seen in the natal chart.
Take the children of today, they are faced with way more environmental challenges than many of us were decades ago. Then, what about the significant links of health to socioeconomic factors? According to WHO “Approximately 1.2 billion people in the world live in extreme poverty (less than one dollar per day). Poverty creates ill-health because it forces people to live in environments that make them sick, without decent shelter, clean water or adequate sanitation”. I’d love to hear thoughts on this one factor, along with environmental challenges Generation X faces (increased amount of toxin exposure, chemicals, etc).
I would definitely agree that the whole chart would be a map to health. There’s just a lot of factors involved. Soma brought up some great starting points with the Asc, Sun, Neptune, 6th house, and Moon. I’m curious though, where would we find indicators of resiliency, mainly psychological resiliency?
Hi Moonlover,
I don’t believe you can look at a chart and find indicators of psychological resiliency. Why? Because 2 people can have the same chart, same signatures, yet be at VERY different levels of awareness. This is based on the natural free will of each soul. Thus, because the physical experience of life itself (down to the very fact of incarnation) is a vehicle for the evolution of the soul- physical health, mental health etc can only be interpreted once we understand the soul’s level of evolution. Then in correlation to the chart, we can understand WHY any physical/mental condition is manifested, and what kind of healing is possible/appropriate for this particular soul.
For example: Neptune correlates to the immune system. We can have a chart with neptune in the third house that will correlate to a soul who has an undeveloped cognitive function. they may spend their life scattering their mental energie and develop Alzheimers. Or we can have a soul with the same chart who is in fact a conduit for communicating the divine logic behind manifested creation. What is the difference between these two souls? They have the same chart- however they are at different levels of evolution.
Psychology itself- is associated with scorpio pluto 8th house. On a physiological level Pluto/scorpio/8th correlates to the colon, pancreas, dna, rna etc. even constipation can be a pluto/scorpio thing. diabetes and cancer can also be a pluto/scorpio thing.
in terms of children today facing greater environmental challenges, it simply means that the charts of today have to be interpreted appropriately. its an interesting point you bring up because the archetypes themself manifest VERY differently according the particular historical age. For example capricorn/10th house/mc does not innately have anything to do with career. why did we learn that it does? because that’s the nature of our current patriarchy- your role in society/your social responsibility (capricorn/mc) has been linked with your career. However it isn’t innately that way.
So when it comes to health- all the archetypes can manifest at various levels depending on the overall context of the times. For example, Capricorn corresponds to the teeth. Our teeth, for the most part suck! Why? Because of the way we live/the way we eat. However good oral hygine at this day and age, will mean floss and brush for the most part. flossing and brushing have become the status quo symbol for taking care of our teeth. Thus they are expressions of the capricron archetype (which requires that we take care of our bones/teeth). At a different time in the past brushing with toothpaste and flossing was probably not even though of- as the way of life did not produce such a need. however the capricorn archetype as it relates to taking proper care of the teeth, still manifetd- just in a different way.
So what i’m saying is it’s all about observation and correlation.
ari
Hi Ari, Thanks for clarifying, and sharing your insights! I can understand and agree, as I just haven’t been able to see how the natal chart could actually inform us about how someone will react or respond to life. I have found that forgiveness and resiliency go hand in hand, and that’s something I don’t think we can see in the chart, yet it’s a crucial indicator imo related to one’s health and how they cope and progress through such issues.
It’s kind of like the ole Scientific mystery of how indentical twins are born with the same DNA, yet remain so unique throughout life. They have the same DNA, yet one may develop schizophrenia or cancer, while the other does not. I suppose you could liken epigenetics to the unseen factors influencing the natal chart? Thankfully, we now have ‘evidence’ that our DNA (or natal chart?) is not merely our destiny.
As far as todays children, I’m starting to feel and see how they seem to be helping to raise consciousness related to the environment and humanity’s role within it. According to an article that can be found here “The prevalence of chronic conditions including obesity, asthma, behavioral and learning problems (such as attention deficit disorder and mental retardation) and physical conditions (such as heart trouble or orthopedic handicap) increased progressively over time, with end-of-study prevalence rates rising from 11.2 percent in 1994, to 25.1 percent in 2000 to 26.6 percent in 2006″ . I’ve been pondering the Astrology, as far as any outer planet connections/patterns related to such increases, as these numbers seem rather significant. While this may stray from the course of the original post, I just find it intersting, and would love to hear further thoughts into this…anyone?
Thanks
