I was on a walk on Sunday…the day before I had felt a little down and feltlike something was trying to get me… I was still not feeling hot. I had a sore throat and head ache thing so I canceled my appointments and was taking it easy. I was getting some fresh air and trying to find a trail behind our house. I was walking along the river when all of a sudden I see this huge brown fluff, all hairs up, charging towards me!
Holy Fuck I think I say out loud, I was really retarded and everything felt like it was in supper slow motion. I felt like I couldn’t move, It was almost like I had given up before I even tried. I could not run I was in all these small trees, rocks, and bushes so I scamper up a hill beside me about 4ft and lay down next to a bush…shaking and full of adrenaline I am waiting to be attacked but all is quiet. I look and it is gone I can not see it, but I hear something in the bushes near by. So I look again and see nothing. I get down and start moving quickly in the opposite direction not looking back until I am on the other side of the river. Whoa! Talk about a wake up call to life! I feel much better now and extremely lucky. Lets see if it is in the chart or what is going on astrologically…Holy Smokes! Still can not believe that I have not been ripped apart by a brown bear!
Soma says that
in the transits it is mars on the acendant that would indicate such an aggressive encounter…and in my Natal with the transits on the outskirts it is my Jupiter conjunct the moon that indicates encounters with wild animals. I would love to have your opinions!

wowowwow! Kali! I always enjoy hearing/reading your words-
Transiting Jupiter is squaring your natal Jupiter right now- and the Moon transiting on your natal Jupiter was emphasizing that.
Jupiter transiting through your third house is in the process of learning and synthesizing a lot of new information. There can be an immense amount of data to sort through/organize in terms of finding direction and synthesis. Maybe the bear scare was asking you to take a risk and go for something you have been afraid of?
or to be more aware of her surroundings. Lets not overlook the fact that her Pisces is intercepted in the 3rd. I believe this can create more confusion, mentally, than Pisces opening the 3rd. It has been my experience with Intercepted signs, to cause a lot of unpredicted trouble in the persons life, especially when you have such potent planets flying through.
It seems to have been a lesson of presence, of Irie (a good 4/20 word). Learning surroundings/new info, yes, I totally agree, but also presence. Our Ms. Neptune has been rumored to be in the clouds from time to time. The bear is the wooden block that breaks your zazen….
lol

I was once chased by a very large, very scary, black bear. It happened during a family vacation, while my brother and I were out riding our bikes along a wooded path that cut through the woods; apparently the bear saw us moving quickly and instinct took over. I was just a kid when it happened (maybe 9-11 years old), so I’m sorry to say I have no idea what transits were happening at the time. It was common for me to run into bears during our vacations, but this particular incident was by far the most threatening.
I do have both Pluto (ruler of my 3rd) and Uranus (ruler of my 6th) in my 12th house, and Pluto squares my retrograde Mars (in Gemini) in the 9th. Since the 12th rules large animals, I attributed the attack to this natal aspect, but maybe I’m mistaken. Uranus also loosely squares my Jupiter in the 3rd.
Glad you’re o.k. – I totally get how scary something like this can be. I’ll be curious to read what conclusions you reach.
You too eh? Gawd, so scary.
I once was chased by a mama goOse. it scared the shit out of me. I was like 5….they get really mean. lol
Laberry, thats a lot of ‘Big” energy in your 12th house. Whether it attracted your bear scare on your afternoon cruise, I couldn’t exactly say. Your Mars in the 9th is potent–it is also ruling your 3rd, and in Gem: short bikeride adventures, turned nightmares. You need those transits…What was messing with that Mars around your 10th birthday???? Progressions….Arcs…..Dasa’s?
=)
Since you bring up the Jupiter/Moon connection, I should probably add that my natal Jupiter in the 3rd also squares my Moon.
On this note some thoughts around bears and our environment-not sure what the charts for our earth say about this……Tami
Global Warming Effects May Kill Off Hibernating Animals
Written by Chris
The list of the effects of global warming keeps getting bigger and bigger.
Now scientists believe that global warming affects hibernating animals, causing them to wake up earlier. While this may seem a trivial concern, it is in fact a legitimate environmental problem. The shortened hibernation period could actually lead to significant declines in the populations of several species
Several species, including marmots, chipmunks, and brown bears, have all been seen to either reduce their hibernation period or not hibernate at all. This can cause starvation and, possibly, increased numbers of some animals being eaten by predators.
Some of the first concrete evidence of the phenomenon came from Colorado, where researchers at the Rocky Mountain Biological lab have been observing marmot hibernation behaviour since the 1970s. In the early days of their studies, marmots generally hibernated several weeks into the month of May. Nowadays, however, temperatures in the area have risen by 2.5 degrees Fahrenheit, and the marmots are waking up about a month earlier.
At least the marmots are still hibernating. Several other animals have not been hibernating at all recently. Brown bears in the Spanish Cantabrian Mountains did not hibernate last year. In parts of the United States, chipmunks also skipped the hibernation period. The bears seem to have survived without losing many individuals. The chipmunks, however, did not fare so well. Many of the animals died of starvation during the winter.
The problem with animals waking up early, or skipping hibernation altogether, lies with the creatures’ metabolism. When an animal hibernates, their metabolism drops significantly. The animals’ heart rate slows, and they require very little energy to live. When the animals awake from their winter slumber, their metabolism returns to normal.
But while their metabolism may be as active as it was before hibernation, food sources aren’t as available as they were before. A marmot may wake up when temperatures get warmer, thinking it’s spring, but plants will not have gotten the amount of sun they need to signal their spring period of growth. So until the plants grow, the marmots have no reliable food source. This has led to starvation in some instances, and even accounts of marmots trying to eat trees to survive.
Many scientists believe the problem will continue to get worse as the effects of global warming become more pronounced. In addition to changes in hibernation patterns, some believe that other animals will also begin to change their migration patterns or begin to give birth earlier. For many biologists, that’s a scary prospect. Terry Root, an animal expert at Stanford University, said: “I do think what we will be facing is the extinction of many species.”

Too sad…..
Thanks for sharing Tami, its an eye opener. As far as the astrology of extinction, it can be seen in a few transits. One being Neptune in Aquarius (including the mutual reception to Uranus in Pisces [a flip in sign/planet], and the other is Pluto in Capricorn. My support for the Mutual reception is this: Neptune represents the untamed wild. It is nature unobstructed by man, and when you put this planet in contact with Aquarius (Uranus in Pisces etc) you will experience an objectification of the natural world (see how that works?). For example, “Oh, would you look at that beautiful prairie, I think I’ll invest and put up a parking garage; ” or “Did you see that lion, lets go find it and shoot it. Lions are Dangerous, and their penises make good medicine!!!!!” You understand? It is a progression at unnatural speeds by the human race, but unsustainable means. It is the opposite from Eco-groovy. Now, when Neptune moves into Pisces in April 2011, we will be forced to changed. We will all have to wake up from this dream, and reintegrate into the matrix of life.
WIth Pluto in Capricorn, the karma of humanity is like overly ripe fruit falling from the dreaming tree. One after another, earthquakes into floods into eruptions into economic collapse, we will start experiencing the consequences of all of our actions. This is the role of Capricorn, to restore what is right, and preserve the laws of the universe. If we treat our mother this way, we then will experience “the boomerang effect” eventually. The slow moving hurricane of Pluto isnt going to leave Capricorn until the early 20′s (take a look at Ari’s response to my podcast post, it will illuminate this one a bit more).
Together, the most interesting cosmic weather is created. Buckle your belts, and bust out your prayer beads, we are about to get reallllllly close to god; you just wait.

Wow thanks Tami! I wonder if this bear woke up early does anyone know the usual time to arouse? There isn’t much to eat yet! Lots of Love*
So what do you see in the planets in store for in 2012?
Astrology–no Mayan–not much is going on. Neptune will have moved into its own sign Pisces, which shouldnt be overlooked, but honestly, the “2012″ transit is occuring right now! Its called the Grand Cross!!!!
Black Bears (which also come in brown, blonde & blue) are not true hibernators, but they do become significantly less active and go into a dormant state during the winter months. This is sometimes referred to Seasonal Lethargy. Black bears enter their dens in October and November. Prior to that time, they can put on up to 30 pounds of body fat to get them through the seven months during which they fast. Winter dormancy in Black Bears typically lasts 3–5 months.[23] During this time, their heart rate drops from 40 – 50 beats per minute to 8 beats per minute. They spend their time in hollowed-out dens in tree cavities, under logs or rocks, in banks, caves, or culverts, and in shallow depressions.
So they are right on schedule and hungry!
Did you find someone to rent your house?
Almost…there are many looking. Why, you want it??? lol
Yeah, I thought if you hadn’t found someone I would be interested in talking about it. I live in Maryland and am looking to make a significant change, especially to live grounded among nature.
